Sustainable Design Guidelines for Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities: A White Paper

As part of the 2014 FGI Guidelines revision process, a white paper was prepared titled “Sustainable Design Guidelines for Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities.” It provided baseline requirements for building site; energy use; indoor environmental quality; water supply; airborne emissions, effluent, and pollutant controls; materials and resources, and waste as well as additional performance or prescriptive requirements for some categories.

This paper has been superseded by publication of ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 189.3: Design, Construction and Operation of Sustainable High Performance Health Care Facilities; please see that document for current sustainable design guidance for hospitals and outpatient facilities.
