Security Design Guidelines for Health Care Facilities

These design guidelines, published by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), are referenced from appendix sections A1.2-3.8 (Security risks) and A2.2-3.1.3 (Emergency departments) in the 2014 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities. IAHSS developed the Security Design Guidelines for Health Care Facilities to help health care organizations and designers build security into new construction and renovation projects, allowing them to provide better security and avoid expensive retrofits.
