Safety Risk Assessment Toolkit for Health Care Facility Environments

Facility construction and renovation projects provide an opportunity to identify and mitigate or eliminate conditions in the health care built environment that may negatively affect the safety of patients, staff, or visitors. This toolkit is designed to guide you through the performance of a safety risk assessment, as required in the 2014 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities.

The toolkit was created through a consensus process that involved numerous safety risk experts with support from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Facility Guidelines Institute.
