Joint Guidance for Operating Room and Sterile Processing Ventilation

A series of conflicting, and sometimes unclear, HVAC standards and guidelines are being applied in the field to operating rooms and sterile processing departments, leading to difficulties as authorities having jurisdiction try to regulate ventilation for these spaces. The major issue stems from the fact that some requirements have been developed as daily operational guidance, while others have been developed to guide design of ventilation systems.

Numerous organizations, including FGI, have agreed to come together to untangle the regulations, but in the meantime the groups have issued an interim guidance statement to help regulators and designers now.
